Nortek Nucleus 1000

Nortek is a Norwegian manufacturer of acoustic sensors, and the Nucleus 1000 is their compact navigation package for small underwater vehicles. In a single unit it combines DVL, AHRS, pressure and temperature sensors, altimeter and optional INS – all pre-synchronized.

Fully integrated – ready to use

The Nucleus 1000 packages everything an ROV needs for stable navigation – in a single unit measuring 90 mm in diameter and under 700 grams.

  • DVL (Doppler Velocity Log) – precise velocity measurement
  • AHRS – orientation (pitch, roll, heading)
  • Altimeter – 0.10–60 m above seabed
  • Pressure and temperature sensor – integrated depth measurement
  • INS – autonomous position estimation

The right housing for your mission

The Nucleus 1000 comes in two housings: 300 m for shallower water and 1000 m for greater depths. The sensor package and performance are identical – choose based on your operational depth.

  • 300 m version: 42 mm height, 0.30 kg in water – for inspection in shallower waters
  • 1000 m version: 47 mm height, 0.42 kg in water – reinforced housing for greater depths
  • Same diameter (90 mm) and same sensor package on both versions

MarineNav integration

Nucleus 1000 on Oceanus Pro and Ultimate

Nortek and MarineNav have developed a direct integration of the Nucleus 1000 into the Oceanus series. This enables autonomous capabilities that previously required much larger and more expensive ROV systems – without complex third-party integration.

Station Keeping

The ROV holds position steadily even in current and swell. The pilot can focus on camera work and inspection without manually compensating for drift.

Precise depth and altitude data

Built-in pressure sensor and altimeter deliver continuous real-time measurements of depth and altitude above the seabed. This forms the foundation for stable inspections along the bottom and along structures.

Foundation for advanced navigation
